A Lesson in Precision

While exploring the Scottish Highlands, we happened upon an archery range. With one quick phone call, we arranged a private lesson with Gerry. 

We had all done archery before, but Gerry quickly revealed that we may have been doing it all wrong. He explained that it’s not about aiming directly at the target. There are too many variables -wind, distance, flight path. Instead, he taught us to pick a spot, test for precision, and only once we could consistently hit the same area should we adjust toward the bullseye. 

In other words, master the process first, then refine the goal. 

This resonated with me on a deeper level. For years, I’ve taught that manifestation requires learning the process before you can replicate it. But it wasn’t until this archery lesson that I truly understood. The bullseye isn’t the starting point, it’s the result of repeated precision and small adjustments. 

It made me reflect on how often we chase outcomes without first proving we can replicate the process. We want the perfect shot, the perfect result, but the real power lies in consistency. 

So I leave you with this thought: Where in your life are you aiming directly at the bullseye without first mastering the process? What would change if you focused on precision and repetition before adjusting toward the goal? How might your results transform if you trusted the process more than the outcome?
