Leap and the Net Will Appear
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been reminded of a powerful truth: when you keep moving, even when it feels impossible, the path opens in front of you.
There were days I didn’t want to do anything. Days when the weight of study, deadlines, and uncertainty pressed down hard. But I held onto my mantra: just keep swimming. And something remarkable happened.
I had signed up months ago for an event called “dog walk with the Vice-Chancellor.” On the day, it was raining, I was behind in my work, and I didn’t feel like going. But I went anyway. That simple step led to a cascade of synchronicities.

The walk itself was beautiful, and Geoffrey the golden retriever was exactly what my soul needed. Conversations with other participants gave me insights I had been searching for. And then I discovered that the Vice-Chancellor herself is a neuroscientist, precisely the next step in my PhD journey.
Later that same day, I found a copper penny just after declaring I needed one for tulips I had bought. Serendipity again.
And then, through a mix-up at a college dinner, I ended up meeting the Lord Chancellor of Tonga and his wife. Finally, as if the universe wanted to underline the lesson, I ran into the Vice-Chancellor again at a restaurant, where we spoke further about neuroscience.
Three moments of serendipity in one day. All because I kept moving.
Here’s the deeper truth: courage is not about eliminating fear. It’s about choosing to step forward anyway. And when you do, the net appears.
So I’ll leave you with this thought: what step have you been resisting that might hold the key to your next breakthrough?
Warmly,
gina 🙂
